‘TOUGH COMPETITION’

I finally got time to paint one of my @lodgefarmsunflowers in detail…
.
I started with a tonal map consisting of 4 values (light, light midtone, dark midtone, dark) and mixed my paint to fit each value range…see greyscale comparison on next post. After that It’s a simple case of putting the lights in the light shapes, darks in the dark shapes etc! (If only it were that easy!!

I decided to quickly block something in last night to paint today and ended up with this! Not my intention but I think it's got great energy to it so I’m gong to leave it there!
