‘THE BINSWOOD ACER’ - PLEIN AIR PAINTING

‘The Binswood Acer II’

Oil on Canvas board.

I’ve had 2 attempts at this tree now!  It’s not often I work on something for more than 2 sessions but it was quite refreshing to be working on canvas and able to evolve the work and think about my next move while one layer dried.

I painted it ‘plein air’ first time round so I had a good feeling for it without having to come the photograph.  The owners actually spotted me and came and offered me a cup of tea! I really liked the dappled light cast by the trees outside but it is not easy to capture in paint without it looking scruffy!

Fellow artist @Ednashart and I are teaming up to host regular Plein Air Meet Ups in and around Leamington Spa.
