‘SCREAMING MATCH’ - PLEIN AIR PAINTING
‘Screaming Match (Rounds 1 & 2)’
Oil on Canvas board 8” x 8”.
Many years ago I was standing on a train station platform in London…2 ladies- one on the north bound platform, the other on my South bound platform spotted each other across the tracks- and a full blown screaming match ensued…everyone listening and watching like it was a tennis match!
…when I saw these 2 vivid trees screaming for attention across the river from each other it was those ladies that I remembered! It was like they were competing to be the brightest/ loudest!
Autumn waits for no man even (I should have been doing housework!) so I had to catch them quick- they had already faded from a week ago (see pic) when I saw them first.
I took time to premix my colours…intending to lay them on thick, but I was liking the softness so I held off. With round 1 finished and with paint to spare I decided to go again, this time it was a bare knuckle fist fight - no underpainting, no drawing, just going for it!
Fellow artist @Ednashart and I are teaming up to host regular Plein Air Meet Ups in and around Leamington Spa.
