THE MILL SUSPENSION BRIDGE

‘THE MILL SUSPENSION BRIDGE’

Plein Air Painting
8” x 8” Oil on board

A chilly but enjoyable afternoon spent painting ‘The Mill Suspension Bridge’ with ‘PALS’ @pleinairleamingtonspa…

Bit of an odd one this as to where the focal point actually is! The end of the bridge kind of competes with the sky holes between the trees, ‘the glasshouse’ below and the strong shadow shape in the water-I quite like it’s oddness though!

Just to my left is a slope leading down to the river known as ‘The Elephant Wash’…in 1895 Leamington was home to three circus elephants known as "The Three Graces": Wilhelmina, Trilby and Haddie who used to bathe daily in the waters to the left of my painting!

’The Mill Suspension Bridge’ is an iconic landmark in Leamington, spanning the ‘River Leam’, built in 1900.
