What a joy to see some spring flowers...it’s always lovely painting personal items, gifts from friends and family.

I’ve found a great free ap called ‘value study’ - see right for reference photo and finished painting compared to their 3 value notan study... you can see mine before I started painting done with burnt sienna, I purposefully put a lot more mid tones in to make it work as the foreground was very dark and the background too light. I enjoy applying ‘notan’ principles to my compositions and seeing how they work out. ‘@barryjohnraybould ‘has done a very interesting piece on it - if you’re interested.
