It’s rare that I work rectangular but Kate’s was such a beautiful pose that it suited her to be tall and slim! The parquet floor was a gift I loved drawing and painting all the diagonals…i’ve got a thing about herringbone…so pleasing to look at! I enjoyed the limited palette and integrating the colours in her fur with those on the floor.

I will be teaching workshops in different locations next year called ‘Pet Portraits with Personailty’. Working ‘alla prima’ in oil paint we will look at ways of applying the paint in a dynamic and interesting way: focusing on colour, brushwork and composition. See the ‘Workshops’ tab for more details.
