FRAMING
70cm x 100cm oil on board
Choosing the right frame for a picture is really important. The client wanted to frame this picture without glass so that meant going about it slightly differently. The surface of the painting was varnished with a Gamvar semi-gloss varnish to even out the finish and protect the paint underneath. You can see the small ‘shadow gap’ left around the edge of the painting-this is called a ‘tray-frame’ and basically the painting is mounted on brackets just below the surface of the frame. The frame was custom made by David at ‘Halo Framing’ in Stratford-upon-Avon’ and chosen because it worked so well with both the warm, cool and dark colours within the painting. The client was over the moon with the finished piece…here I am posing with the paintings subject who looks very proud indeed!
