I always try to look where to place the 3 types of edges in a painting… ‘hard edges’, ‘soft edges’ and the special ‘lost edges’…they are the most interesting ones…where the edge of the object is lost to the background.I will be teaching workshops in different locations this year called ‘Pet Portraits with Personailty’. Working ‘alla prima’ in oil or acrylic paint we will look at ways of applying the paint in a dynamic and interesting way: focusing on colour, brushwork and composition.
