‘ENCLOSED SPACE’ Plein Air Painting
‘Enclosed Space’
Top of Newbold looking towards Offchurch on an overcast but warm December morning.
Plein Air Painting. 8” x 8” oil on board.
My favourite brushmark is that of the small tree though it was the small enclosed space that led me to paint that particular area in the first place.
Plein Air painting is a constant conversation between the landscape and your brush. Not to paint but to interpret what you see and translate it onto the page in a way that keeps the essence of the landscape whilst satisfying your style. Perhaps I should have simplified this more…been braver and got out some even bigger brushes at the end to weave some of the shapes together. You’ve got to be prepared to ‘loose it’ to make it better though! - want to see the master at work?- check out the work of @alex_edwards_art..
Fellow artist @Ednashart and I are teaming up to host regular Plein Air Meet Ups in and around Leamington Spa.
