LOST
LOST
8” x 8” Oil on board
These orchids live on my kitchen windowsill. I was consciously trying to ‘loose’ most of the edges and aiming to draw the viewers eye to the centre of the flower top left with a sharp edge. I love finding all the pastel colours in the petals of ‘white’ flowers. I backlit the flowers to make them glow and started with a panel coloured with a midtone grey/blue.
I will be teaching various flower painting workshops this year workshops in different locations. Working ‘alla prima’ in oil paint we will look at ways of applying the paint in a dynamic and interesting way: focusing on colour, brushwork and composition. See the ‘Workshops’ tab for more details.
