TALK & LIVE PAINTING DEMONSTRATION @ Rugby & District Arts Society
Just over a year and a half ago I did my first floral painting from life…Painting from life as opposed to a photograph was a huge psychological hurdle for me…crazy really when it’s just me with some paint and a brush, painting in my kitchen, no one else looking over my shoulder - I had anxiety for weeks before I plucked up the courage to give it a go. The results were so worth it, I saw that immediately, my painting was so much looser and more expressive. 18 months on it was a great honour to be invited to talk about my work and demonstrate live in front of about 50 other artists. I could never have imagined myself doing this 2 years ago. As a creative introvert I’m far more comfortable expressing myself in paint than I am in words, so I was really proud of myself for stepping up to the challenge. Thanks to the organisers and everyone who attended for making me feel so welcome.
All ready to talk / demonstrate at ‘Rugby & District Arts Society’ monthly meet up. None members welcome.
My first floral painting from life July 2021….
Roses from life June 2022. Your ‘studio’ is simply wherever you set up your equipment. Kitchen table / field in the middle of nowhere / garden shed…it’s what you produce there that counts. I work in my kitchen- its got a lovely light, its warm, comfy and I have easy access to the kettle & box of biscuits! Who needs a fancy studio - just paint!
