I’ve just finished teaching a 2 part online course for @ardingtoncrafts where we’ve been exploring the importance of creating and maintaining strong Notan designs in our paintings.

Top left: a 3 value Notan study in sketchbook
Top right: transfer Notan study to painting surface
Bottom left: finished painting
Bottom right: turn finished painting black and white to check if you stayed true to your Notan!
