ARTICHOKES & ALLOTMENTS!

Whilst doing the art room residency I was lucky enough to get chatting to a lady who gardened not just 1 but 3 allotments on this site. A few weeks later when I received a commission to draw / paint an artichoke I knew just the person that could help! I’m in my element here sat among the veggies and the flowers…give me greenery over beach and sea any day of the week!

So much inspiration - it was just what I needed as an inspirational kickstart. I’ve also an exhibition to prepare a number of pieces for who’s title is ‘Delicious Abstraction’ so I can’t wait to get back and find some more edible treasures to draw!

Just what i’d been looking for!!

10 minute sketch with ink in a brush. The underlying criss-crossing diagonal structure on these spherical heads was fascinating - you can just see that i’ve sketched that in first before adding the ‘petals’.
